In th past, Pokémon typically takes over the port city of Yokohama (just south of Tokyo) throughout the month of August with activities like the Pikachu Outbreak march and other summertime festivities. These activities unfortunately were paused for the past few years due to rising pandemic concerns. However, the Pokémon World Championships are making their long-awaited in-person events return to Japan this year!
The Pikachu Outbreak will not only return to Yokohama this year with one of the largest parades ever,, but also the Pokémon Center Worlds with some exclusive merchandise, three Pokémon Fantastic Live Shows — We Move!!, Imagination! Into the Next!!, Pikachu Gathering!!, the Pokémon Trainer Cruise, and the Pokémon Matsuri Park, with stalls inspired by a normal matsuri with a Pokémon theme, will be taking place alongside the Pokémon World Championships.
Under the Pokégenic banner, there will also be Pokémon decorations all across Yokohama.
Check out some of the anticipated picture-perfect art decor that will be seen throughout the "Pokégenic" week below:
Want tickets to the event? To try and make it fair for all fans wanting to attend, only a lottery mechanism is used to distribute tickets for all of the events, including the Pokémon Center Worlds. The only events that won't require the lottery system to attend are the cruise or the Pikachu Gathering!!! show. From August 8-14, all activities will take place in the Minatomirai district of Yokohama.
You must pre-register for ticket purchases, which you can start by clicking HERE! Applications are accepted until July 3.
