The popular arcade video-game Dance Dance Revolution is being developed into a movie by film company Stampede Ventures and Konami. Brand Entertainment's J. Todd Harris and Marc Marcum are on-board as producers.
I'd hazard a guess that most people are familiar with the iconic arcade game, but just in-case you aren't; the game would see players stood atop a platform which has a cross-formation of four arrows on it. Arrows will scroll down the screen and the player must tap each button, with their feet, in time with the display. It's essentially Guitar Hero but with your feet. Though the game is a classic in the arcade, Konami have released versions for consoles.
Variety recently reported that the film will "explore a world on the brink of destruction where the only hope is to unite through the universal language of dance." While the premise sounds so bizarre that it just might work, it does seem to envoke previous video-game movies like 2015's Pixels - which currently holds an 18% on Rotten Tomatoes.
That's all we know at this point. What do you think of the premise? Have you ever played Dance Dance Revolution?
