Detective Pikachu is just over a month's time away and its promotional material has begun branching out internationally in a big way. Just yesterday we witnessed a brand new international poster be released - which featured a plethora of live-action
Pokemon. Now, we've gotten a new TV spot for the highly-anticipated film.
This promo does feature a bunch of the same footage we've seen in previous trailers, even going as far as to reuse the same soundtrack - that being Bonnie Tyler's 'I Need a Hero'. However, this spot does contain some new footage. Firstly, Ryan Reynolds (who will be voicing and providing the motion-capture for the titular Pokemon) prefaces the trailer with confirmation that the film will indeed be arriving in China.
The end of the spot reveals the fan-favourite Pokemon of Gyarados arriving within the Pokemon fight-club to take on Charizard. Naturally, the creature is enormous and quite terrifying to see in live-action. The water-type quickly disposes of Pikachu and Justice Smith's Tim Goodman. It'll be interesting to see whether we get to see any more of Charizard and Gyarados' battle within the film itself. As it stands, based on this spot, Gyarados absolutely dominates the competition.

Detective Pikachu is set to arrive in theatres on May 10th, 2019.
