Universal Pictures has finally revealed that
Doom: Annihilation, the upcoming live-action and direct-to-video movie based on the popular demon-slaying franchise created by id Software in the early 90s, will be released on the
1st of October.
Back in March, we got our
first look at 1440 Entertainment's Doom: Annihilation, and the reception was so bad that even the official
DOOM Twitter account felt the need to step in and clarify that they are, in no way, involved with the movie.
The teaser trailer released for the movie further proves that the studio has no idea why people actually love the
DOOM franchise, let alone understand what makes it appealing from a first-person-shooter/survival standpoint; something that, surprisingly, the first
Doom(2005) film got somewhat right — although it is still a pretty bad movie.
Doom: Annihilation is expected to release on the
1st of October on Blu-ray, DVD & Digital, and pre-orders are already available via the official
Universal Pictures website.
Based on the popular original video game, Doom: Annihilation is an explosive, terrifying thrill ride. On the darkest moon of Mars, scientists have found an ancient portal which allows teleportation throughout the universe. Considered to be mankind's greatest discovery, it's actually a gateway from hell, unleashing a swarm of demons looking to steal the souls of everyone who gets in their way. It's up to Lieutenant Joan Dark and an elite unit of Marines to destroy an ever-growing horde of bloodsucking and soul-stealing beasts and prevent them from taking over planet earth.
Doom: Annihilation will release on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on the 1st of October.
