Uncharted was initially projected to have a relatively low opening, but massively exceeded expectations last weekend and remained at #1 this week as well. With a 90% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, moviegoers have embraced the video game adaptation, and Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland has been cemented as a bona fide box office draw.
With an estimated three-day haul of $23.2 million, Uncharted has now earned a total of $83.3 million in North America. We're waiting on international numbers, but it's no wonder Sony Pictures has already declared this a new movie franchise. Expect a sequel announcement imminently.
Talking of Holland, Spider-Man: No Way Home remained in the #3 spot (behind Channing Tatum's Dog) with a $5.75 million weekend that brings it closer to $800 million. It currently sits at $779.88 million, but all these movies are going to be obliterated next weekend by a certain Caped Crusader.
According to Deadline, The Batman is going to easily make upwards of $100 million during its opening weekend, with advance ticket sales suggesting it could go as high as $115 million. Special IMAX screenings begin on March 1, and it's already been confirmed that all of those have sold out.
The review embargo for The Batman lifts tomorrow, so check CBM then for their verdict. They also have interviews coming with producer Dylan Clark and stars Jeffrey Wright and Paul Dano.
