In June of this year, a Taiwanese rating website revealed Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, a brand-new entry in the beloved Crash Bandicoot series, was actually a reality, although the developers have yet to officially announce it. It was a few days later that developer Toys for Bob and Activision finally confirmed this information.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time was officially announced for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but players were left scratching there heads wondering why the developers decided not to develop the game for PC and the Nintendo Switch, which isn't a stretch considering that all previous Crash Bandicoot games have released for PC and Switch.
About a month ago, Activision revealed that releasing Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time on other platforms was still a possibility, and that players should stay tuned for more information regarding this particular topic; giving fans of the beloved character some hope.
Some new information has revealed that a Nintendo Switch version of the game is actually a reality, although the developers have yet to officially make the announcement. Here's the thing, though, since this information actually comes from the official website for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.
According to keen-eyed Twitter user @SunwerPower, inspecting the game's website's elements reveals that Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time for the Nintendo Switch does show up on the "Available platforms" section, although this could well be a mistake.
I personally confirmed this by following the same steps, and the Nintendo Switch does show up as one of the consoles for which the game could be eventually releasing on. Again, all Crash Bandicoot games have released for PC and Nintendo Switch in the past, so it would be unusual to see the developers not developing the game for these platforms.
Unfortunately, we will have to wait for official information to be revealed, but this is probably only a matter of time. Developing the game for PC would probably require a bit more time due to optimisation, and a Nintendo Switch version needs to be slightly downgraded in order to make the game run accordingly.
If we take the above into account, it is understandable why the developers would take more time to develop the game for the Nintendo Switch and PC; considering that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are likely similar in pretty much every way; from a graphics standpoint, of course.
Picking up where the original trilogy left off, Neo Cortex and DR. Nefarious Tropy have escaped their interdimensional prison and in doing so have fractured the boundaries of time and space. It's up to Crash and Coco to save the day.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Friday the 2nd of October.
