The second story-driven DLC for
Middle Earth: Shadow of War, Desolation of Mordor is finally available across PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. It offers a fresh campaign mode and a new protagonist, Baranor, a sergeant and the frontline commander of Gondor's last doomed stronghold in Mordor, Minas Ithil. The DLC also features a plenty of side missions with dwarf hunter Torvin, and some new mercenaries and bodyguards.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War has also received a free update that, among other things, removed the ability for Gold to be purchased with real money, meaning that
Shadow of War is now free of microtransactions. War Chests, which featured high-level Legendary Orcs among their possible drops, will continue to be available for a while, but you can’t buy them using the real-world money anymore.
That's not all and Monolith has prepared some Photo Mode upgrades, tweaks to Online Fight Pits, and the addition of a new Brutal Difficulty setting among the highlights.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War's
Desolation of Mordor story expansion costs £15.99/$19.99 standalone, or comes packaged with the game's Story Expansion Pass. This also includes the mediocre
Blade of Galadriel story DLC.
In the main expansion, Captain of Minas Ithil Baranor who has escaped from the ruined city and reunited with his long-lost brother Serka has to hire an army of mercenaries, survive an all-new desert environment, conquer a marauder fortress, and kill a ton of orcs along the way. A Baranor character skin can be unlocked for the main story campaign, too. Tak a look at this exciting launch trailer:
