Middle-Earth has been a very successful series of recent time. It's first game was released and took the world by storm, gaining a solid fanbase that has supported it from day one. Now, as we get ready for the second iteration in the series Shadow of War, WB Games has made a big announcement regarding a DLC that got them in some hot water.
There was originally a DLC set to be dropped that was going to give all of it's profits to the family of the former EP on the game Michael Forgy, a talented man that sadly lost his life to cancer. Now, on paper WB's endeavor was an honorable one, one that showed they were going to support Forgy's family even after his passing. But many eagle-eyed players noticed the fineprint said that there would be some donation exemptions in a couple US states and the rest of the globe.
So many fans then asked "well if in some locations the funds for the DLC aren't going to Forgy's family, where exactly are they going?" This then lead WB Games and Monolith to go deep into the spin-zone and rectify their situation, stating that the funds wouldn't be going in their pockets like many would assume. So to just remove the situation all together, they've decided that they'll just remove the price point for the DLC completely and make it free for all players.
As stated by a admin for the WB Games community, "We recognize that tying our donation to sales of the DLC was not the best way to achieve our goal of offering financial support to the family and creating a lasting memorial to Michael Forgey. For absolute clarity; our intention was always to give all profits from the DLC, worldwide to the Forgey family."
