Over the past few days, some lucky journalists have been taken around the new Kojima Productions studio space to mark its opening in Japan, and a statement handed to those in attendance sees Hideo Kojima weigh in on his time at Konami. It's no secret that things didn't end particularly well there, but it sounds like the visionary creator is now keeping his sights set firmly on the future rather than the past.
"The me that stands here now is the product of the past 53 years of my life. Everything I experienced over 53 years; movies I’ve seen, books I’ve read, music I’ve listened to, games I’ve played, people I’ve met and the 30 years spent in this industry, have formed who I am. Not one of these things has been without purpose, including my experience creating games at Konami. I’m embarking on a new challenge with a fresh slate, but I intend to keep pushing the creative envelope until the day I die. I believe my experiences over the past 53 years won’t lead me astray."
Part of Kojima's "fresh slate" obviously involves Death Stranding, an upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive which looks set to be different to any previous video game. It was during PlayStation Experience last month that he announced that the title will be powered by Decima, the engine created by Horizon Zero Dawn developer Guerrilla Games.
