Shadow of the Tomb Raider was announced last month and we learned a whole lot about the next Lara Croft's journey during the special event that shed new light at the game. We already know Shadow's Mayan setting, the main antagonist and characters, and we also received a confirmation that Crystal Dynamics is too busy with the Avengers game and Shadow is being developed by Eidos Montreal.
There's one thing the new developer won't change, as Lara, despite being more skilled and deadly, still prefers her bow over the iconic dual pistols. “It’s because the twin pistols have an iconic thing about them. For this trilogy – not saying anything about later on, I don’t know about the future titles – but for this trilogy, the bow is still her signature weapon," said the game's director Dan Bisson.
You should also forget about seeing her outfit from the PlayStation era as Bisson's team is "not going to put her in shorts with double-pistols, wearing a bikini, that’s not what this is.” Considering that Crystal Dynamins has rebooted the franchise with a fresh, more realistic Lara, it's understandable that we won't return to her roots anytime soon, and maybe (just maybe) it's the right decision...
Experience Lara Croft’s defining moment as she becomes the Tomb Raider. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hour. As she races to save the world from a Maya apocalypse, Lara will ultimately be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 14th.
