At the time of writing, Ubisoft had revealed that they are currently working on
Far Cry: New Dawn, Trials: Rising, Tom Clancy's The Division 2, ANNO 1800, The Settlers reboot, and
Beyond Good and Evil 2. Today, the company officially announced that they are planning to launch only 3 (or 4, the final decision is still up in the air) games in fiscal year 2019-2020 (between April 2019 and March 2020).
Considering that the new
Far Cry launches tomorrow,
Trials: Rising on February 26th, and
The Division 2 in the middle of March, it leaves only Blue Byte's next
Anno and
Settlers (that are not traditionally counted as "big-budget" releases),
BG&E2 (that will enter its beta phase in December, according to Director Michel Ancel), and
Skull & Bones – Ubisoft Shanghai’s new offering that is coming in 2019.
The fact that
Skull & Bones is the only Ubisoft “AAA” video game that is scheduled to launch actually next fiscal year raises a couple of questions (and yeah, we know that
Just Dance 2020 is definitely coming in October), mostly about what the other two (or three) video games could possibly be.
Considering that Ubisoft has trademarked
Rayman and
Watch_Dogs, there's a chance that these two series will return in the next few months. When it comes to the last, unannounced game, I'd put my money on the long-rumored
Splinter Cell 8 or
Pioneer, Ubisoft's
Rainbow Six: Siege-like multiplayer alien shooter. Whatever these games are, we will learn more about them during this year’s E3.
It is the Golden Age of Piracy. Renegade captains command the most powerful weapons on Earth: warships. You are a pirate captain who has refused the king’s pardon and sailed from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean, an untamed frontier full of lavish riches. However, these waters are also a battleground where far-reaching colonial empires, powerful trading corporations, and ruthless pirate gangs clash. In order to survive, you will have to build a lethal fleet, prey upon lucrative trade routes, and ally with other pirates in your endless struggle for supremacy.
Skull & Bones is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
