Ubisoft has decided to push back their pirate game
Skull & Bones once again, and it's not the only possibly bad news for those who are looking forward to the title – as it will also skip this year's E3.
According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, this decision will allow the main development team at Ubisoft Shanghai to further polish the game's systems and bring their vision to life in its fullest.
Given that it's a completely new IP, the scope of the project has clearly surprised even the people behind it – but it's not necessarily a bad thing, as this additional development time will surely allow the
Skull & Bones team to focus more on even the details and deliver a fully playable package at launch.
In other news, Ubisoft is planning to release four big-budget video games this fiscal year, with the recently revealed
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint being the only officially announced one.
Considering that
Assassin's Creed is enjoying its well-deserved break this year, it's rather safe to say that a new
Watch_Dogs game will be released in the coming months. While
Beyond Good and Evil 2 may be one of those titles, we wouldn't count on that, as the Michel Ancel-directed space opera seems to be a cross-gen project that will also be available for PlayStation 5 and the Xbox One successor.
While it's pretty hard to guess what Ubisoft is currently working on, the company’s big plans for the future will be shown for the first time at E3 2019 and the French behemoth’s press conference that will be held on Monday, June 10 at 1:00 p.m. PT (10:00AM ET, 7:00AM GMT, 6:00AM on June 11 AEST).
It is the Golden Age of Piracy. Renegade captains command the most powerful weapons on Earth: warships. You are a pirate captain who has refused the king’s pardon and sailed from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean, an untamed frontier full of lavish riches. However, these waters are also a battleground where far-reaching colonial empires, powerful trading corporations, and ruthless pirate gangs clash. In order to survive, you will have to build a lethal fleet, prey upon lucrative trade routes, and ally with other pirates in your endless struggle for supremacy.
Skull & Bones is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
