Telltale Games has announced that The Wolf Among Us will now target a 2019 release. According to the studio, this extra time will give the development team enough time to further polish the game and as the direct "result of a few fundamental changes here at Telltale since we first announced the game last summer." Although not explicitly stated, it's possible that these "fundamental changes" relate to last November's events when the developer laid off 90 members of staff, around 25 per cent of its total workforce.
"Ultimately our goal is to deliver an experience deserving of the passion you’ve consistently shown for The Wolf Among Us, and these extra months will give us the time we need to do our best work. We’re extremely enthusiastic about how the game is progressing so far, and we can’t wait to dig even deeper," Telltale Games' official statement regarding The Wolf Among Us Season 2 delay reads.
The Wolf Among Us 2 is based on Bill Willingham’s award-winning Fables comic book series from DC’s Vertigo imprint. The first season of The Wolf concluded in 2014. The Wolf Among Us was set in the year 1986, nearly twenty years before the events of Fables. The second season was announced in July.
