The Wolf Among Us is an episodic interactive narrative series developed by Telltale Games for the previous and current generations of console as well as the PC and mobile devices such as Android phones and the PS Vita.
For a long while, a sequel was in the works at Telltale Games. However, the studio was shut down in September of last year. Therefore,
The Wolf Among Us 2 was put on hold indefinitely. This was until The Game Awards 2019 wherein it was announced that
The Wolf Among Us 2 was once again in development —
more on that here.
CEO of Telltale Games, Jamie Ottilie, recently spoke with
Forbes about the unexpected development. Otillie explained that they're trying to corral all of the creatives who worked on
The Wolf Among Us.
We felt it was important to bring back the creative leadership on the title. The first priority was really on the writers and cinematic directors for the game, as we wanted this to be a true sequel – built by the same visionaries as the original. And it’s likely that we will add other key contributors as we ramp up the team. We will be opening positions in both Malibu and Corte Madera next year.
However, Ottilie also had some bad news. Fans of
The Wolf Among Us will have to wait a long time for the sequel. The CEO explained that they don't currently have a release date in mind but it won't be prior or during 2020 — meaning that
The Wolf Among Us 2 is at least two years off. Though, that's certainly better than never.
“We aren’t announcing a release date just yet, but I can say it won’t be in 2020,” Ottilie told the site.
"We have rebooted development of Season 2 and intend to give it the time and care it deserves to bring the vision to fruition.”
