Assassin's Creed III: Remastered launched last Friday, but to truly understand the 2012 game's long journey, we have to go back in time to 2010. While you probably remember that
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 [its PC version debuted in March 2011) that exact year, you may not know that Ubisoft Montreal officially started working on
AC3 around that time.
While the early prototype footage of
AC3 has leaked online a while ago, the Access The Animus crew uploaded its extended version to YouTube just two days ago, giving us a chance to take a closer look at that pre-rendered video in full HD, also featuring some brief snippets of
AC3's original naval combat.
The video was originally created nine years ago for the development team at Ubisoft Montreal (and every new employee), putting the spotlight on the game's core gameplay mechanics, environment, and overall sense of direction. As you can notice in the footage below, it's all pre-rendered CGI footage that doesn't feature a single second of real-time gameplay, so before you start thinking about "Another Major Ubisoft Downgrade®," please remember that you're actually watching an animated movie.
Without further ado, be sure to take a look at Ubisoft's original vision of
Assassin’s Creed III below:
Relive the American Revolution or experience it for the first time in Assassin's Creed® III Remastered, with enhanced graphics and improved gameplay mechanics. Plus, Assassin's Creed Liberation Remastered and all solo DLC content are included.
Assassin's Creed III Remastered is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC NOW; coming to Nintendo Switch on the 21st of May.
