Freedom Fighters, Hitman and
Kane & Lynch creators from IO Interactive have proudly announced that they are opening a new studio in Malmö, Sweden, joining Ubisoft Massive and Hazelight, that are also located in one of the biggest cities in Sweden. The new studio will strengthen IO Interactive’s commitment to deliver new content to the acclaimed
Hitman franchise, community, and all their fans.
“
We will expand IOI to join a buzzling game developer community and bring our own unique IOI culture to this amazing town”, says Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive in a press release. “
The IOI expansion in Malmö was a natural choice as there is a very strong existing video game industry. I believe it has all opportunities to become the epicenter of game development in Scandinavia.”
According to Abrak, this new studio will not only develop
Hitman 2 sequels, but also "
brand-new and exciting endeavors, new universes, new franchises," which would be a welcome and long-awaited change, as IO's last new IPs were 2009's
Mini Ninjas and 2007's
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men.
As a reminder, last year's launch of
Hitman 2 was just a beginning of your new deadly journey, as IO Interactive is planning to support the sandbox title for years to come. While
Hitman 2 already features
"400+ Challenges" and "
100+ Hours of Gameplay," the studio will add new content at regular intervals, meaning that once you start your
Hitman 2 playthrough, it may last until the launch of
Hitman 3.
Travel the globe and track your targets across exotic sandbox locations in HITMAN 2. From sun-drenched streets to dark and dangerous rainforests, nowhere is safe from the world’s most creative assassin, Agent 47 in the ultimate spy thriller story.
Hitman 2 is available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 NOW!
