Nicalis has just shared some exciting news for fans of the classic Ikaruga, as the publisher has revealed that the popular, and tough as nails shoot 'em up will be getting a limited physical edition for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this October.
The official announcement about this physical edition for the game was actually made in November of last year, although details about it were scarce; with the publisher promising that more information would be revealed once all details had been finalised. That was the last we heard about the news, to the point some fans may have even forgotten about it.
As per Nicalis' official announcement today, Ikaruga Limited Physical Edition will become available for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on Tuesday the 27th of October, and will be including a Metal Earth steel model kit of the Ikaruga ship, an instruction manual, a premium foil "Warning" sticker, a box with metallic gold accents, and an exclusive bonus for the Hypergun Store.
This isn't even the best news that Nicalis shared, since the publisher has also confirmed that pre-orders for the Ikaruga Limited Physical Edition are currently open via the game's official website, which you can easily access by clicking right here.
On top of this, Nicalis also shared an announcement trailer for the Ikaruga Limited Physical Edition, as well as some images of what it will be including, so be sure to check them out down below!
A rebel pilot named Shinra must battle an enemy nation using a specially-designed fighter called the Ikaruga, which can switch between two energy polarities (black or white) at the touch of a button. Bullets that are the same color as Shinra's ship can be absorbed, while the opposite color will do damage - this polarity-switching mechanic is the game's core feature and the foundation for its stage and enemy design. It's now up to Shinra makes his final stand, as the Ikaruga might be the rebel federation's last chance to defeat the oppressive Horai regime!
Ikaruga is currently available for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
