To say fans aren't responding well to the debut trailer is an understatement. At the time of writing this article, the YouTube video has 6,715 up-votes and a lopsided, 29,807 down-votes. Metal Gear Survive looks more like something from the Resident Evil franchise than another entry in the action-adventure stealth video game series that debuted in 1987. There's already an outcry for Konami to just sell the franchise to Sony, which is the new home to Kojima Productions.
Via IGN, Konami’s official press release for the game says Metal Gear Survive follows the adventures of soldiers previously employed at Metal Gear Solid 5’s Mother Base, who must now work together in order to survive massive threats.
Set in an alternate timeline, the four-player action-stealth game follows familiar Metal Gear themes down a different path in an effort to bring gamers fresh and unique gameplay experiences. Along the way, players will unlock new weapons “to combat charging creatures and lethal environments”.
Metal Gear Survive will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2017.
