As Path of Exile 2 heads into another week, Grinding Gear Games has revealed a new set of changes targeted for deployment in a patch expected mid-next week. The upcoming update includes highly requested features and key improvements to crafting, endgame maps, and skill gem quality of life.
One of the most anticipated additions is the ability to respec Ascendancy classes. In a nod to community feedback and after a spicy interview, players can now redo Ascendancy Trials to change their class. With the rule that it applies only if the trial grants the same number of points they’ve already earned. Players must have zero points allocated to open the respec menu, accessible via Balbala or the Trialmaster near the Ascension device.
Level requirements for Ultimatums granting Ascendancy points are also being lowered. Seven-chamber Ultimatums now unlock at level 55 (down from 60), while ten-chamber versions are dropping to level 65 (from 75).
Other key highlights for the patch so far include:
Endgame Map Fixes
Tower and Hideout maps were missing rare monsters, unintentionally affecting map sustainability. The fix adds rare monster spawns and ensures extra map drops upon the final rare kill. This bonus is not required to complete the map but helps with sustaining your Atlas progression.
Crafting Adjustments
To reduce clutter, lower-tier runes will be removed from the drop pool as higher tiers are unlocked. Drop rates will be rebalanced accordingly. In addition, players can now socket Scepters and find new Talisman mods that boost minions, helping smooth mid-to-late game summoner progression.
Totem Improvements
Totems have struggled with survivability, particularly in the late game. Starting at gem level 15, totems will now gain scaling elemental resistance, capping at 75% by level 20. The Ironwood support gem has also been enhanced to provide additional max elemental resistance to totems.
Shard Scavenger Buff
The underused Shard Scavenger now restores grenade cooldowns and prevents Crossbow Attacks from consuming bolts for two seconds, adding much-needed utility.
Gemcutting QoL
A new “My Skills” tab has been added to the gemcutting interface, showing all equipped gems across your build—ideal for quickly leveling off-class skills.
More tweaks are sure to be coming on the horizon, but these confirmed changes aim to improve core gameplay and address player frustrations ahead of next week’s patch. Stay tuned to see what else they will add in next weeks patch!
