Jill Valentine is returning in a new Resident Evil release this fall. Titan Manga is publishing a manga adaptation of the 2023 CGI film Resident Evil: Death Island on September 29, giving fans another chance to see one of the series’ most iconic characters in action alongside a stacked cast of franchise favorites.
The original Death Island film, released in June 2023, is set in the main game continuity and follows Jill as she investigates a new T-Virus outbreak. Her path intersects with Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, and Rebecca Chambers as the group converges on Alcatraz Island to confront a bioterror threat tied to a former BSAA agent seeking revenge. The movie was generally well-received for its large ensemble and straightforward action-horror approach.
The upcoming comic, adapted by Zino in collaboration with Capcom, translates that story into a 224-page black-and-white format. It is not a new narrative but a direct adaptation of the film’s events, offering a different medium for the same reunion of characters. For many fans, the primary draw is simply seeing Jill in a fresh release after a stretch of limited appearances.
Jill Valentine has been part of Resident Evil since the original 1996 game, where she served as one of the two playable protagonists. She headlined Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, returned in the Resident Evil remake, played a major role in Resident Evil 5, and starred again in the 2020 Resident Evil 3 remake. She has also appeared across spin-offs, crossovers, and other media. Her most recent game appearance was in the multiplayer title Resident Evil Re:Verse, which has since been shut down. That leaves the Resident Evil 3 remake and Resident Evil: Resistance as the latest proper game outings for the character.
No new mainline game featuring Jill has been announced. The next confirmed Resident Evil project is a remake of Code: Veronica, which is expected to focus on Claire and Chris. Rumors have pointed to a possible Resident Evil Zero remake afterward, along with longer-term talk of Resident Evil 9 or 10 and even another take on the original game. Any of those could eventually bring Jill back into interactive form, but none are confirmed to do so at this stage.
In the meantime, the Death Island manga serves as the nearest opportunity for fans to spend time with the character again. The film already gave players a post-Resident Evil 5 look at Jill working alongside the rest of the classic cast. The comic adaptation extends that moment into print and keeps her visible while Capcom continues its current slate of remakes and new entries.
Resident Evil: Death Island arrives in manga form on September 29 from Titan Manga. For those who enjoyed the 2023 film or simply want more of Jill Valentine, it offers a straightforward way to revisit one of the series’ most complete team-ups in a new format. Whether it signals anything larger about her future in the games remains an open question, but for now it confirms that one of Resident Evil’s defining characters is not being left behind.
