Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is an upcoming cinematic adaptation of the Resident Evil survival horror video game series. Kaya Scodelario stars as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, and Lily Gao as Ada Wong, among others. Those familiar with the game series will undoubtedly be familiar with this batch of characters.

Along with the cast, a trailer as well as some stills have been released in the lead-up to release, the film's release being on November 24th, 2021 — in just a few days. It's clear that Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will be a helluva lot more faithful to the source material than the previous Resident Evil movies, largely seeming to take inspiration from the first Resident Evil game as well as Resident Evil 2.

However, fans have noticed a lack of one particular aspect: a certain iconic antagonist known as the T-00 Tyrant or better as Mr. X. Well, the upcoming film's director Johannes Roberts recently revealed to Comicbook.com that the iconic tyrant will not feature in the movie in any capacity.

"The one thing that I wanted to put in and I didn't, I just couldn't find a way to put in was Mr. X. There is a nod. It's tricky to see in the shot and I was like, 'Just use that shot,' but it doesn't work in the movie. And I was like, 'Okay,' with a movie you have to actually tell a proper movie rather than just use the shots that you want," Roberts said.

Certainly unfortunate for fans that would've liked to have seen Mr. X feature in the cinematic debut. Maybe if the film gets a decent reception they'll be able to figure out a way to include him in a sequel.
