There is no doubt that
Marvel's Spider-Man has become something very special for both Insomniac Games and fans of the wall-crawling superhero. The game created an immense amount of excitement upon its reveal and, two long years later, it's paid off as
Marvel's Spider-Man delivered everything it set out to deliver.
Marvel's Spider-Man not only did a wonderful job at introducing Spider-Man's rich lore, but it also managed to reference several other characters from the Marvel universe—having people wondering whether there will be any cameos by other heroes liek the Avengers in future games.
In a way,
Marvel's Spider-Man could be compared to Marvel Studio's
Iron Man movie, which kickstarted the highly successful Marvel Cinematic Universe 10 years ago. It turns out that this may actually be the case, or at least that's what Marvel Games Executive Creative Director Bill Rosemann, who has officially compared
Marvel's Spider-Man to Marvel Studio's
Iron Man.
Marvel's Spider-Man kickstarting a new era of Marvel console games definitely sounds exciting, especially because there is an
Avengers Project in development at Square Enix, which was announced in January of 2017 and we still know absolutely nothing about,
except for a few details here and there.
Now that Spider-Man is out of the way, Marvel Games can begin focusing on that secretive
Avengers Project, and hopefully Insomniac Games' take on the wall-crawler can work as the main pillar in this new Marvel Game Universe.
