MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales was one of the many exclusive games that were revealed to be releasing for the PlayStation 5, either at launch or after the highly anticipated console becomes available this Holiday. While the announcement got fans excited for the upcoming game, some were left wondering if this was the true sequel to 2018's MARVEL's Spider-Man

As it turns out, MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is as much of a sequel as it is an expansion to the first game, and this has already been confirmed by Sony Interactive Entertainment's Simon Rutter, who said that it is "an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game."

Insomniac Games Community Manager James Stevenson has also revealed that MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a standalone game, and not an expansion per se; possibly meaning that the "Miles Morales component" will not be part of the base game, but more of a spin-off title.

Here's the thing, though. Even when we have had confirmation that this is an expansion, as well as a standalone game, the announcement still had people confused about what MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales was, and they still have every right to be.

In a recent interview with CNET, PlayStation Chief Operating Officer Jim Ryan has opened up about the game's announcement, and how it was in no way supposed to be misleading.

"I can safely say that we would not effectively lead the next-gen portion of the show with something that was either trivial or misleading

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is the next adventure in Marvel's Spider-Man universe. We will reveal more about this standalone game at a future date," explained Ryan.

More information about the recently announced MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is definitely needed. Even after the developers and producers have revealed tiny bits of information, people are still confused and want to know how much of a brand-new game this is, or if it's just glorified DLC that will look better than MARVEL's Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4.

MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is expected to launch this Holiday exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
