We don't know much about Square Enix's mysterious new game The Avengers Project, except that it's being developed by Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind the recent Tomb Raider reboot. Well, it seems Crystal Dynamics is now full steam ahead on development, announcing today a series of hires that took place in January to expand the team. Crystal Dynamics confirmed 15 new hires, comprised of top industry talent, join the development team in January.

Included in the group is former Naughty Dog Creative Director Shaun Escayg, who hinted last month about his new adventure. Escayg joins The Avengers Project as Creative Director, a role he had with Naughty Dog when he served as Creative Director and writer of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Escayg's resume also includes Director of Photography and Animation Supervisor for The Last of Us. He also worked as an animator at Industrial Light & Magic.

In addition to Escayg, Crystal Dynamics also brought on Stephen Barry, a 27-year industry veteran from EA/Visceral Games, who will serve as Director of Production. Barry held multiple positions at Electronic Arts and was formerly the Director of Product Development at Visceral Games. Barry brings years of game experience with him, but is probably most well known for his work on the Dead Space franchise.

In addition to these two standouts, the remaining hires are comprised of "world-renowned industry veterans, spanning production leadership, animation, design, art and engineering, who have previously worked on games such as Batman: Arkham Origins, Dead Space, Star Wars: Battlefront and many more," according to Ron Rosenberg, Co-head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics.

“Their AAA experience adds to an already deep roster, making us well-positioned to deliver on the ambitious goals we’ve set for ourselves with The Avengers Project. It’s a stellar addition of many people who fit incredibly well into our wheelhouse of building game experiences we all love," he added.

The Avengers Project still doesn't have a release date, nor do we have any actual details regarding the highly anticipated game.
