Onimusha: Way of the Sword unlocks Thursday night if you are on the West Coast and at midnight if you are on the East Coast. Capcom’s samurai revival is a simultaneous worldwide launch. Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox listings line up on 9:00 p.m. PDT September 3, which is 12:00 a.m. EDT September 4.
That is 10:00 p.m. MDT September 3 for Mountain Time. Central Time is 11:00 p.m. September 3. The U.K. gets it at 5:00 a.m. BST September 4. Western Europe is 6:00 a.m. CEST. Japan is 1:00 p.m. JST September 4. Australia’s east coast is 2:00 p.m. AEST. New Zealand is 4:00 p.m. NZST. Because the unlock is global rather than local midnight, the old New Zealand store trick does not get you in on Wednesday.
Don't miss the Swordplay Action Trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the upcoming installment to the hit third-person action game developed by Capcom. Players will get an overview of the journey that lies ahead, from key locations, combat techniques, and powerful Oni abilities to take on the powerful bosses with ease.
On the bright side for fans, there is no edition that gets to play earlier than the others. Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Deluxe all open at the same second, so no worries about fear of missing out and being behind on release day.
Standard is $69.99 and is the base game. Pre-orders add the Lion Dog Charm and the Sealed Curse Sword appearance. Deluxe is $79.99 and adds the Deluxe Kit: three charms, four sword appearances, Musashi’s Red Armor, and the Crimson Lotus Oni Gauntlet. Deluxe pre-orders also include the Lion Dog Charm, White Monkey Charm, Sealed Curse Sword, and White Lion Sword appearance. Premium Deluxe is $89.99 on Steam and stacks the Premium Kit on top of Deluxe: three haori outfits, three outfits for Okuni, three for the Oni Lady, and a mini digital soundtrack.
Platforms the game will be playable/purchaseable on are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. Capcom pulled the date for the games release forward from September 25 to September 4 earlier this summer. The box still says September 4 in most regions. West Coast clocks hit it the evening of the 3rd.
For those who are wanting their first taste of the game already, a demo is already out on PS5, Xbox, and PC with a Sasaki Ganryu fight and Kiyomizu-dera. Demo players who finish it will get the Kubi Akari charm when the full game unlocks.
