The Surge is an action role-playing game with science fiction elements, developed by German developer Deck13 and published by Focus Home Interactive, that was released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows in May of 2017.

Due to the success the game got upon its release, Deck 13 and Focus Home Interactive announced back in February that they were working on The Surge 2—revealing that the game was expected to arrive in 2019.

The Surge 2, much like its prequel, will keep the dynamic combat system intact—which had players aiming for the opponent's limbs in order to land damage and emerge victorious. Thanks to Deck13's new FLEDGE engine, the game's setting is said to be their most ambitious one yet—taking place in a large devastated city for players to explore.

Today, we get a brand new trailer that shows off the game's open world, some of that brutal combat The Surge is known for, and some glimpses of a fight against some sort of robot boss named Goddess Helena.

Take a look:

After the success of last year’s sci-fi Action RPG The Surge, Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 are ready to showcase the very first gameplay footage of The Surge 2, releasing 2019 on consoles and PC.

The Surge 2 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
