Fans of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead franchise will finally be able to get some closure. During The Walking Dead panel at New York Comic Con, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman made the surprise announcement that the remaining two episodes in Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season will release through his company Skybound.

"We’ve successfully negotiated with Telltale Games for our company Skybound to come in and see Season 4 of the Telltale game to completion,” Kirkman said, adding, “We can’t lose Andrew Lincoln and Clementine in the same year.”

According to an official statement from Skybound, the company has "taken ownership of Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season and will finish the season. Skybound will work with members of the original Telltale team to finish the story in a way the fans deserve."

Telltale surprised just about everyone last month when the studio announced it would be closing and canceling all of its projects, including The Walking Dead, which was in the middle of its fourth and final season. In fact, Episode Two even released on September 25, just days after the studio made its announcement. However, the remaining two episodes in The Final Season were in limbo, with no plans for their release. Thankfully, Skybound has come to the rescue.

There's no word yet on when fans can expect the final two episodes to be released, but Kotaku had previously reported that Episode 3 is "essentially finished," with some voice work already recorded for Episode 4. Either way, it's great news that fans will get to see the conclusion of Clementine's journey.
