Following yesterday's cover reveal for NBA 2K26, publisher 2K announced additional cover variants for this year's game. Four editions of NBA 2K26 will be available this year, each featuring a different cover design and various bonuses.
As revealed yesterday, Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will grace the Standard Edition of NBA 2K26. This is the most basic edition, featuring only the base game and 10,000 Virtual Currency as a pre-order bonus. This will cost $69.99 and include a version of the game playable on current and last gen consoles.
The next tier up is the NBA 2K26 Superstar Edition, which features 10-time NBA All-Star and six-time All-NBA Team member Carmelo Anthony on its cover. The Superstar Edition is priced at $99.99 and includes 100,000 VC, MyTEAM Content, and MyCAREER Content.
Selected with the third overall pick by the Denver Nuggets in the 2003 NBA draft, Anthony led the team to the playoffs every year from 2004 to 2010. In 2009, he led the Nuggets tot heir first conference finals appearance since 1985.
He was traded to the New York Knicks in 2011,w here he played until 2017. Both Anthony and the Knicks found brief success, which included a NBA scoring title in the 2012-13 season, they lacked major playoff success. Despite New York's struggles, Anthony was mostly beloved by the fanbase and respected for carrying the team offensively.
Carmelo retired from the NBA in May 2023, after brief stints with the Rckets, Trail Blazers, and Lakers. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2025, as part of the Class of 2025. He finished his career with 28,289 career points (10th all-time), a 10-time NBA All-Star, and a three-time Olympic gold medalist.
In what may prove to be a controversial surprise, WNBA star Angel Reese was revealed as the cover athlete for the NBA 2K26 WNBA Edition. Drafted 7th overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Reese is already dominating the court. As a rookie,s he led the league in rebounds, including setting records for double-doubles and consecutive 10-rebound games. Now in her sophomore season, Reese currently leads the WNBA in rebounding with about 12.8 rebounds per game.
Reese is most closely tied to Indiana Fever's Caitlin Clark. The media-driven narrative is fueled by fierce competition and high-stakes matchups between the two young rivals, which dates back to their time in college.
The WNBA Edition is available in a physical version for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S exclusively at GameStop. It's priced at $69.99 and includes the basic 10,000 VC pre-order bonus.
The NBA 2K26 Leave No Doubt Edition combines all three of these superstars on one cover. Available for $149.99, this comes all of the content as the Superstar Edition, including 135,000 VC, a Season Pass, and more.
NBA 2K26 will release globally on September 5, 2025. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam). However, only the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms will be considered the Gen 9 version. A 7-Day Early Access period will be offered to anyone who purchases the Superstar Edition or Leave No Doubt Edition, which begins on August 28, 2025.
