The Official Twitter page of the NBA2K series said this in a tweet:
Marking a few great milestones for an already amazing basketball genre franchise. It was already listed as the 2nd top overall selling video game from 2017, just behind Call of Duty: WWII, and also the highest selling sports game of the year, beating out EA Sports' popular football franchise, Madden NFL 18.
NBA 2K18 featured Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving as the cover athlete and was released for Xbox (both 360 and One), Playstations 3 & 4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC back in September of 2017.
NBA 2K19 will feature two covers, the standard edition featuring Milwaukee Bucks rising star Giannis Antetokounmpo, and a deluxe '20th Anniversary' edition featuring new Los Angeles Lakers and future Hall-of-Famer Lebron James. The game will release worldwide across all current platforms on September 11th, 2018. There will also be a special cover for Australia and New Zealand featuring the Philadelphia 76ers' Ben Simmons, a native from Melbourne, Australia.
