Back in June,
Psyonix announced that they would be removing randomised loot crates from
Rocket League. Today, the developer has announced their replacement — that will be added in December.
Blueprints will be sporadically provided to the player upon the completion of a match. For a fee, you'll be able to turn a blueprint into an actual cosmetic item. However, unlike loot crates, players will be able to see what they're purchasing ahead of time — meaning that they're essentially the same as loot crates except they're not random.
Along with crates, the keys that were required to open them will also be removed. In replacement, Credits will be added. This new premium currency will be what's required to decipher Blueprints and upgrade to Rocket Pass Premium. Another use for these Credits will be purchasing cosmetics from the item shop.
That's right, a brand new item shop is to be added — similar to that of
Fortnite — which will offer up a rotating selection of cosmetic items. Any items that you pay for, whether from blueprints or the item shop, will not be tradeable. Any keys and crate within your inventory when the update occurs will be transferred into credits and blueprints respectively.
Additionally,
Psyonix has announced the final crate will be landing on October 3rd. It's called the
"Vindicator Crate" and will feature the new Sentinel battle-car and Neuro-Agitator Goal Explosion. Below you can check out an image of the forthcoming Sentinel battle-car.
