EA Sports has yet to formally announce details surrounding this year's installment of its annual soccer franchise — now titled EA Sports FC — but the reveal could come as early as this week.
According to prolific game leaker Billlbil-Kun (via Dealabs), EA Sports FC 25 will likely be revealed within the next ten days. Furthermore, the leak claims this year's game will be released on September 27, 2024.
The rumored release date is pretty in line with EA's track record. EA's previous FIFA games as well as last year's EA Sports FC 24 — the inaugural installment in the new EA Sports FC series following the publisher's split with FIFA — all typically have been released in mid-to late-September. EA Sports FC 24 was released on September 29, 2024.
In addition to the release date, the site also features reports on the various Editions that will be offered and their prices. This year's game will reportedly have two purchase options: Standard and Ultimate. The Standard Edition will cost $69.99, while the Ultimate Edition will cost $99.99 and include seven days of early access starting on September 20th. EA Play subscribers will also be offered early access through a 10-hour trial.
These Editions are also in line with what EA has been doing with its football franchise. EA Sports College Football 25 and Madden NFL 25 can be purchased as either a Standard Edition or Deluxe Edition, with the latter offering three day early access. Pricing is also similar at $69.99 and $99.99, respectively.
Platforms for EA Sports FC 25 were not leaked, but the franchise is typically offered on all available consoles, including last-gen systems, simply because of how popular soccer is across the world. Last year's EA Sports FC 24 was available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. However, it's worth noting that certain features like HyperMotion and AcceleRATE were only offered on newer consoles.
With the EUFA Euro 2024 championships currently taking place, some suspect EA will wait until the final game on Sunday, July 14 to announce EA Sports FC 25. UEFA is partnered with EA for the EA Sports FC franchise, so there is a good possibility the announcement is linked with the tournament.
EA's long-running soccer franchise was previously released under the FIFA banner, but the nearly three-decade partnership expired after the release of FIFA 23. As a result, the franchise underwent a name change to EA Sports FC and received a new logo, kicking things off officially with EA Sports FC 24 last year.
