Blizzard has not posted a Warcraft III: Reforged Patch 3.0 blog, but dataminers have found that they might be cooking something behind the curtain. The week around BlizzCon 2026 is still stacking Warcraft 3 in public. There are three things together that could build some hype for Warcraft III: community dataminer Stiven saying version 3.0 is in internal development, two official Classic Cup matches on the BlizzCon grid, and Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen’s Warcraft 3 Rebirth Invitational on September 14 and 15 with Blizzard sponsorship and a $10,000 prize pool.
Stiven’s X post is the spark. The live public build still reads like a 2.0.4 bump (2.0.4.24235 to 2.0.4.24240 in one write-up). His line was that Blizzard wants you to see 2.0.4 while the real work is 3.0, and that Warcraft 3 fans would get "something new" at the September show. There appears to be other sources that have backed the internal 3.0 claim. However we are not sure what is contained within until something is announced or a patch drops to the public.
BlizzCon 2026 is Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Doors 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. PDT both days. Registration starts Friday, September 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. PDT. Opening Ceremony is Saturday at 10:30 a.m. PDT and streams free on official channels. Musical sets stay in the hall.
Warcraft 3 is on the Saturday esports block, not as a named "Patch 3.0" panel. Classic Cup: Warcraft III – Legacy Match is 4:30 p.m. PDT. Classic Cup: Warcraft III – Entertainment Match is 5:45 p.m. PDT. Those sit after the first wave of World of Warcraft "What’s Next" panels (12:00 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. PDT) and the MDI Grand Finals. Sunday’s WoW slate includes Deep Dive, housing/cozy crafting, world building, art, Archives, and Hardcore: What’s Next. There is no second Warcraft 3 panel on the public grid and Blizzard’s know-before-you-go post published.
The Classic Cup is part of a wider legacy esports weekend: Overwatch World Cup, WoW Arena World Championship, Mythic Dungeon International, Hearthstone Masters Tour. AWC and MDI share a combined $600,000 pool. Watch drops for WoW run on Twitch and YouTube (Trader’s Tender, housing decor, a flying quilt mount at eight hours). StarCraft has had its own teaser noise this week if you curious about it. Warcraft 3’s official on-site job is two exhibition matches and a floor full of people who still queue 4s.
Grubby’s Rebirth Invitational is September 14 and 15, the two days after Anaheim. It is being given official Blizzard support, $10,000, and a "special twist" in the announcement. It is likely that twist might be a new way to play. It could also be a format gimmick. Nobody posted 3.0 notes on the Liquipedia page as a confirmed rule set.
Patch 2.0 in November 2024 was the last named major Reforged step: Classic HD assets, graphics, interface. Fans still argue Reforged owes a campaign pass, a fifth race, or a client that does not feel like a 2020 apology. Those are wish lists. Stiven did not publish a feature dump.
Opening Ceremony Saturday morning is where a surprise video would have to live if Blizzard wants the whole hall to see it. The Classic Cup is where casters can talk about a build without a keynote. Grubby’s cup is where a sponsored client change would show up in games people already watch. None of that is a 3.0 patch. All of it is why the rumor is moving this week instead of in October.
If you are in Anaheim, the WC3 matches are late Saturday. If you are at home, the Opening Ceremony and Classic Cup stream on Blizzard’s listed channels. If you only care about a version number, wait for notes that say 3.0 on the Warcraft 3 forum, not a 2.0.4 build ID.
