Months back, Psyonix announced that they would be removing loot crates from Rocket League. Though the developer didn't provide their reasoning for doing so, it seems apparent nonetheless. Within the last couple of years, gamers have rejected the business model and many governments have even made the manipulative practice illegal.
Last month, Psyonix announced that a replacement would be introduced in place of loot crates —
more on that here. Blueprints will be unlocked by players the same way that Crates were, however, you know exactly what you're getting out of a blueprint — unlike crates which simply provided an item at random. You know exactly what you're paying and playing for this time around.
Additionally, Keys will be replaced with a new currency named Credits. If you've got any Crates and Keys in your inventory come December 5th, they will automatically be converted into Blueprints and Credits respectively. The newly announced date of December 5th will also be when Rocket Pass 5 kicks off as well as the 13th competitive season.
Within their blog post about the coming update, Psyonix also announced a little treat for players:
"As soon as the update goes live, be sure to check your inventory. All items from Supersonic Fury, Revenge of the Battle-Cars, and Chaos Run DLC Packs will be added to all accounts on all platforms. Enjoy the extra cars and additional items!"
