Remedy Entertainment's game is set to release in August for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Control will see players assume control of, the game's protagonist, Jesse Faden. Jesse appears to have the ability to warp reality at will. This allows players a fun amount of freedom in traversing the in-game environment and taking down enemies.
Though the game will be releasing on all of the big platforms (excluding the Nintendo Switch), to download the game on PC you'll have to acquire it from the Epic Games Store for a limited time. This isn't the only limited-time exclusivity related to
Control, however, as expansions for the game will release first and foremost on the PlayStation 4.
However, Remedy communications director, Thomas Puha recently told
WCCFTECH that these expansions won't be exclusive to the Sony console for very long. Though Puha also made it cleary that he unfortunately isn't currently able to provide an exact timespan for the exclusivity window at the moment.
So there’s one exclusive mission in the digital deluxe PS4 version, and then the expansion pass is kind of tied to that. But outside of that, one costume, the side mission, and the digital themes, the game is the same on all platforms, and all the expansion pass will be available on all platforms, but I can’t say what the exclusivity window is, except it’s not very long. So, again, we’re consumers as well at Remedy and the core game is the same for everybody. Again, many publisher and business reasons for doing certain things.
Control is set to release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 27th, 2019.
