Scum's Early Access teaser trailer debuted during Devolver Digital (unnecessary?) E3 2018 media briefing, poking fun at the current state of gaming, featuring a lot of cursing, using words like "loot-boxes," "micro transactions," "bitcoins," and "DLC."
Scum was one of the highlights of the Devolver annual extravaganza as the game looks actually decent (as long as a copy of
PUBG can look decent).
The funny Steam product description promises that "
SCUM is a next generation, story driven survival game featuring extremely complex game mechanics and unrevealed survival features. Gamepires is an experienced team oriented towards innovation and perfection in game production and have decided to develop SCUM side by side in collaboration with its community with the goal of making the best possible survival game yet."
Scum is built with Unreal Engine 4 by Gamepires (
Gas Guzzlers) and Croteam (
The Talos Principle, Serious Sam). Devolver released the said teaser to celebrate the early access reveal, so check it out:
SCUM evolves the multiplayer open world survival game with unprecedented levels of character customization, control and progression, where knowledge and skills are the ultimate weapons for long-term survival. Players will balance base level needs with knowledge-based skills to manage everything from nourishment, metabolic rate and body mass to weapons proficiency, combat style and security systems hacking. Dominate the island with your skills, cunning and strategies to achieve higher levels of game and receive powerful gifts from corporate sponsors and, if you happen to slip up and die, get resurrected by the show’s producers with all your valuable skills still intact.
Scum is coming to Steam Early Access August 2018.
