Capcom is going all out with their celebrations this year and it shows. With the new
Mega Man 11 trailer released a couple of days ago, and the release of
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection,
Capcom seems determined to return in full force to the franchises that made them a household name.
Street Fighter first came out in 1987 and became an instant hit once its sequel—
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior— hit the arcades, which completely revolutionised the gaming industry and defined the fighting genre into what it is these days. To keep the celebrations going, Capcom has released a 3-part documentary about the
Street Fighter franchise that takes us through the series' early beginnings, the competitive community, and the next generation of competiitive
Street Fighter players.
The first part of the documentary is all about the series' beginnings, different revisions of the games, and the experiences fans and professional players have had over the years while playing
Street Fighter. The way the
Street Fighter games have evolved is definitely interesting to see, especially due to the many revisions that these games have seen, which makes it very hard for players to pick their favourite title in the franchise—although most people definitely agree that
Super Street Fighter II: Turbo and
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike are the most competitive ones.
