With all that's been recently going on in the esports scene with
Dragon Ball FighterZ being pulled from Anime Ascension, the fighting game community has been needing some good news, and today that's exactly what they will be getting.
Katsuhiro Harada, long-time
Tekken series producer, announced that he has just become the leader and supervisor of the Bandai Namco Fighting Game Esports Strategy team, and is committed to expanding the horizons of both tournament and community scenes of the
Dragon Ball FighterZ,
SoulCalibur, and
Tekken franchises.
With the announcement, Harada also reveals that they are currently planning to have "
as many official tournaments as possible" for next year—while also continuing to support tournaments held by the fighting game community, as well as figuring out ways to assist said tournaments and community activities.
Katsuhiro Harada has been involved in fighting games since he worked as one of the designers, and creators of the original Tekken all the way back in 1994; producing both the
SoulCalibur and
Tekken series ever since.
If there's one person properly qualified to lead the fighting game esperts strategy team at Bandai Namco, that's Katsuhiro Harada, so this is great news for fans who were disappointed that
Dragon Ball FighterZ was pulled from Anime Ascension; plus, they will now get even more tournaments that will include
Tekken and
SoulCalibur franchises so everybody wins.
