Dead or Alive is a fighting—and, oddly enough, volleyball—franchise that initially debuted in Arcades back in 1996, developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo. The game was later ported to the Sega Saturn and PlayStation, where it became very popularthat resulted in the game getting a number of sequels, as well asa beach volleyball spin-off.
Koei Tecmo has recently revealed that
Dead or Alive 6 is on the way, coming out almost 7 years after Dead or Alive 5—not including the
Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball spin-offs. The new game is running on a different engine and embracing a slightly more realistic art-style without considerably departing from its "anime style".
Dead or Alive 6's more realistic approach has also reimagined the series' main character—Kasumi—as she no longer wears that rather revealing outfit she's worn since the game's inception, but a more tactical ninja suit in its stead—which also comes as a welcomed change. Fighters now take battle damage and will even bruis up and get bloodied as they take a few punches, which definitely adds to the realism the developer were aiming towards. The game definitely looks like a step in the right direction and fans will be glad to see the franchise coming back in full force when the game arrives in
Q1 of 2019.
Dead or Alive 6 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam in Q1 of 2019.
