Capcom has officially announced that a movie adaptation of the Monster Hunter series is in active development. According to Variety, the movie is produced by Constantin Film and the production crew is set to start shooting the film at the end of October in Namibia and South Africa. The Japanese company has decided to renew their collaboration with Paul W.S. Anderson who will direct the movie.
The director of Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat (1995) will also pen the script. Milla Jovovich, Ron Perlman, Diego Boneta and rapper T.I. Harris will star in Monster Hunter. The movie is supposed to tell the story of heroes from two different worlds that unite to fight their common enemies - the titular monsters. Fan-favorite characters like Admiral (who will be played by Ron Perlman) will also show up.
The Monster Hunter franchise is a series of fantasy-themed action RPG video games that started with the game Monster Hunter for PlayStation 2, released in 2004. Monster Hunter: World, the latest title in the critically acclaimed series, shipped 10 million units worldwide, with cumulative sales of the series exceeding 49 million units as of August 20. Monster Hunter doesn't have a release date yet.
