Capcom's Monster Hunter franchise is all about forging powerful weapons and taking them into combat as you hunt behemoth monsters out in the wild. There's an underlying story to the game series, but the fun of the games lies in the combat. That will presumably be the case for Sony Pictures upcoming movie adaptation.

A trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson's Monster Hunter hasn't been released yet, but two new posters have arrived and we can all rest easy; there will be big weapons. The posters feature stars Milla Jovovich and Tony Jaa who play Lieutenant Artemis and The Hunter, respectively, in the movie. Both are standing confidently in a desert-like environment that is based on the look of Monster Hunter World's Wildspire Wastes area.

Jovovich is wielding the Giant Jawblade, a massive Great Sword, while Jaa is holding the Great Hunter's Bow. Interestingly, in one of the original promotional images for the movie, it is actually Jaa holding the Jawblade so at some point it seems Jovovich's character will get to wield it.

Based on the posters, it looks like Anderson's Monster Hunter movie will stay true in spirit to the games, although we already know the story will differ. In the movie, Artemis and her elite team of soldiers are transported to a new world where they battle for survival against enormous enemies. On their quest to return home, they are aided by the mysterious Hunter, which is presumably how she gets the Great Sword.

Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back.
