With Assassin's Creed hitting theaters this week amid some pretty brutal reviews, it makes sense that the Honest Trailers team has decided to take aim at Mortal Kombat, another video game movie which had a lot riding on it upon release. Whether or not fans will embrace Ubisoft's first big screen effort the same way they did this one remains to be seen, but this no holds barred trailer is great fun regardless.

It helps that they're also able to poke fun at the critically panned sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, though the franchise makes it itself an easy target of ridicule thanks to its obsessions with rules, some pretty daft shots, and exactly how many times the words "Mortal Kombat" were used throughout. It's ultimately all in good fun though, so check it out and then be sure to let us know your thoughts below.
