Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Kast, NetherRealm Studios'
Mortal Kombat series Producer Shaun Himmerick confirmed players will be able to purchase cosmetics by using real money; offering players even more options when it comes to customizing their characters.
In order to purchase cosmetics in
Mortal Kombat 11, players need to collect time crystal — which is the in-game currency — but they will also be able to pay to get time crystals by using real money, allowing them to get these cosmetics faster and without having to constantly grind for them.
It is also worth mentioning that all of the cosmetics in the game can be earned without actually having to pay money, as Himmerick reveals that "
nothing in the game requires time crystals, you can play the whole game, unlock all the stuff there, without ever dealing with time crystals. If you want, you can get time crystals and shortcut your way to different things."
The Kombat Kast also revealed that Mortal Kombat 11 will not have loot boxes, as players will be able to find whatever they're looking for in the store without having to purchase a loot box with random items in it; which is something that Mortal Kombat fans will definitely appreciate.
The all new Custom Character Variations give you unprecedented control to customize the fighters and make them your own. The new graphics engine showcasing every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment, brings you so close to the fight you can feel it. And featuring a roster of new and returning Klassic Fighters, Mortal Kombat’s best in class cinematic story mode continues the epic saga over 25 years in the making.
Mortal Kombat 11 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on the 23rd of April.
Nintendo Switch version will release on the 10th of May.
