Mortal Kombat 11's closed beta will be running from March 28th through March 31st, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have officially revealed. Unfortunately, the only way to participate in the upcoming beta is to pre-order the fighting game – the tests will be also available only for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which means that those who play only on Nintendo Switch or PC won't be able to play MK11 before its release next month (coming to Switch in May).

This aforementioned beta phase is not under an NDA, so WB. encourages everyone to capture and share their experiences from playing with the community. NetherRealm has already confirmed that players will battle their friends, strangers, and the AI as Scorpion, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Baraka, Skarlet, Geras, Kano, Kabal, D'Vorah, Jade, Johnny Cage, Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, Erron Black, and Shao Kahn, but it's unclear which characters and game modes will be playable during the beta.

Considering that MK11 will feature some Injustice 2-inspired customization options, giving players a chance to check out the personalization component ahead of its launch also seems like a reasonable request. While we're waiting to learn more about the closed beta, take a look at its schedule below:

Mortal Kombat is back and better than ever in the next evolution of the iconic franchise. The all new Custom Character Variations give you unprecedented control to customize the fighters and make them your own. The new graphics engine showcasing every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment, brings you so close to the fight you can feel it. And featuring a roster of new and returning Klassic Fighters, Mortal Kombat’s best in class cinematic story mode continues the epic saga over 25 years in the making.

Mortal Kombat 11 will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on the 23rd of April; Nintendo Switch version will release on the 10th of May.
