Capcom has recently announced that the recently released
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has already managed to ship a staggering 2.5 million units worldwide; definitely a new record for both the company and the monster-hunting series.
To put things into perspective,
Monster Hunter World released in January on 2018 and it managed to sell 7.5 million units worldwide after a bit over a month since it was released. It wasn't just the series' popularity that made that possible, since the game has also been very well reviewed by both critics and fans of the series.
In May of last year, Capcom also announced that
Monster Hunter World was the company's best-selling title of all time, revealing at a later date that the game had
sold over an impressive 13 million copies globally.
What makes Monster Hunter World: Inceborne's sales even more impressive is that the game has managed to sell that many copies in a mere week after it was officially released; not to mention that the PC version is scheduled to launch in January of next year.
According to the official press release, the 2.5 million copies sold account for both the physical and digital sales of
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. It is also worth mentioning that players who already own
Monster Hunter World can purchase
Iceborne as an expansion; sales that Capcom has also included in their report.
Capcom also reveals that the Xbox One version of
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is only available in Europe and North America, so these sales will definitely skyrocket once both the Xbox One and PC versions release in Japan.
