Gearbox has released a new trailer for
Borderlands 3, highlighting the co-op multiplayer aspect of the shooter-looter. It's actually more of a cinematic trailer so we don't get a look at any actual gameplay. Still, it's entertaining enough as the four playable Vault Hunters - Moze, FL4K, Zane, and Amara - dance to the song "So Happy Together" as they kill an army of bandits. While dancing along, each character showcases their own unique special abilities.
Prior to the trailer's release, Gearbox actually caused some confusion when posting a teaser for it. The developer referenced a "celebration of togetherness," sparking speculation that
Borderlands 3 was planning ot announce plans for cross-save or cross-play functionality between consoles. Gearbox CEO took to social media shortly after various speculation articles to confirm that wasn't the case.
"Some folks may be speculating that this thing tomorrow may be about cross play. Tomorrow’s thing is awesome, but *not* about cross-play. But, Good News: We are committed to supporting cross-play for Borderlands 3 with our partners as soon as practicable after launch," Pitchford said, adding further clarification in a second tweet.
"To be clear, there will not be any cross-play functionality in Borderlands 3 at launch as we work closely with our partners to create a positive cross-play experience as soon as practicable. We are committed to cross-play on as many platforms as possible."
The original shooter-looter returns, packing bazillions of guns and an all-new mayhem-fueled adventure. Blast your way through new worlds and enemies as one of four brand new Vault Hunters, each with deep skill trees, abilities, and customization. Play solo or join with friends to take on insane enemies, collect loads of loot and save your home from the most ruthless cult leaders in the galaxy.
The multiplayer mayhem begins when
Borderlands 3 releases on September 3 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
