After announcing the game back in March, Activision has finally provided a glimpse at Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. But before we will talk about the Battle Royale and Zombie modes, we have to confirm that for the first time in the series' long history, this year's Call of Duty won't feature a "traditional" (and what does that mean?) single-player campaign, and instead focus solely on the multiplayer.
Let's make that clear - Call of Duty: Black Ops IV will be the first game in the series, since its launch in 2003, to not feature a proper solo campaign mode. Instead, Black Ops IV will have solo missions for its various multiplayer Specialists. The other rumors were also confirmed today, as COD's version of the Battle Royale mode is titled "Blackout" and will include a huge map and fan-favorite COD heroes.
The PUBG-like map will be 1500 times bigger than Nuketown. As always, the next BLOPS will include the zombie mode, introducing four characters that travel through time to battle an evil cult, while killing the undead along the way. It's set across three unique missions, each of which has its own map: The Nine, Voyage of Despair, and Blood of the Dead, and one includes a crazy-looking gladiator combat mode. Instead of playing with your friends, you can beat this mode with three AI companions.
Activision also has some news for the PC players as Call of Duty: Black Ops will follow last year's Destiny 2 and is coming to Battle.net instead of Steam. The PC version is co-developed by Beenox. All of that for the price of the full game. I wish we could return to the future.
Call of Duty: Black Ops IV will be launching on October 12, 2018.
