Longtime Call of Duty Zombies players will no doubt be familiar with the over-the-top bonus gamemode that is Dead Ops Arcade. However, for those that aren't, here's quick refresher.
All the way back in Call of Duty: Black Ops (the first one in the subseries from 2010), you could unlock a secret mode by entering the code "DOA" into the CIA computer which was everpresent on the game's main menu. Unlike the traditional Call of Duty Zombies experience, Dead Ops Arcade was a twin-stick top-down shooter.
However, the game's objective remained the same: Survive the undead — and make use of a helluva lot of colourful power-ups and weapons as you do. Dead Ops Arcade returned in Call of Duty: Black Ops III in 2015 (then named Dead Ops Arcade 2: Cyber's Avengening).
Well, with Treyarch taking the reigns of the next instalment in the Call of Duty series and the Call of Duty Zombies mode returning and looking better than ever — more on that here — it seems Dead Ops Arcade will also be making a comeback.
The studio revealed an absolute boatload about the upcoming Call of Duty Zombies experience (via Treyarch.com) and to cap it off they shared an image which all but confirms Dead Ops Arcade 3. "There’s more intel to come on what we’ve got planned for Zombies this time around, but we’ll leave you with just one more thing for now…" the post concluded.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches on November 13 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.
