Since its launch back in September 2014, DLC for Destiny has been released with no discernible pattern. Some packages were released only a few months apart while others debuted nearly a year after the previous content drop. That's certainly contrary to what Bungie promised gamers back in 2014. Chris Barrett, the creative director for the latest expansion, Rise of Iron (which is Next-Gen only), told Eurogamer, "
We’re trying to get better at what we do, build tools to make content quicker and focus on what the best and most impactful experiences are for players. We’re also learning as we go. I think we’re getting better at building Destiny, releasing content quicker."
Bungie recently opted to release a slew of mini-campaigns (SRL Racing, Festival of the Lost, etc.) to keep gamers interested but it looks as if Bungie may be looking to shift gears and re-focus on storyline content. "
We’re going to give players as much as we can, " said Barrett. He added, "
Ultimately we’ll see how the community reacts. We had a big playtest at the studio last week and the feedback was very positive, everybody liked the new content. Our teams are very passionate – they had a lot of suggestions too."
Destiny: Rise of Iron releases for the Xbox One and PS4 on September 20, 2016.
