The biggest change revealed this week in Bungie's weekly update was the weekly strike. It will become a matchmaking strike. No more searching for players to go with you on the strike. Here is the reasoning behind the change.
Here is what Bungie Design Lead M.E. Chung had to say.
M.E. We wanted the Weekly Heroics to be a challenge that pushed you and your buddies, but what we observed was that these strikes don’t demand the same cooperation of a cohesive pre-made group. The overwhelming community response was such that many players didn’t have the numbers on their friends list to experience the activity on a weekly basis.
Can I still solo the Weekly Heroic?
M.E. No, this change applies to all levels of the Weekly Heroic.
What about the Nightfall?
M.E. No change. Since players are kicked to Orbit on team wipe, we want people to be able to preserve that group so they could give it another go.
So, no matchmaking for Raids neither?
M.E. No, but we are keenly aware of the issue. We think good Raid sessions rely on groups of communicative players who are invested in each other, but we know that it’s challenging for many players to find groups for Raids and Nightfall today. We are thinking hard about how we can help make that an easier experience in future releases.
Other Changes:
- Xûr will stop forgetting to bring his Exotic engrams when he visits us from… wherever Xûr is from.
- Iron Banner will work as previously promised, with a greater variety of maps in rotation as well as a couple of new Bounties that give you more control over which weapon you can use to complete them – and we were hoping that one would have arrived before the current event.
- Strikes and Crucible Maps will be less likely to repeat themselves when you stay in a matchmaking playlist with your Fireteam.
- Grimoire Cards will drop when you expect them to.
THE WEEKLY ADVENTURE!!!
This week our adventure takes us to the Nightfall Strike where we faced off agaisnt Omnigul (possibly the hottest Hive member)and her cronies. I don't know why, but I love beating Omnigul! It, in my opinion is the most challenging strike, while being fun at the same time. This week Me - Taylor Beames (TH3KIllA77), Nate Best(TheHolyFragger) and Dalton Best(Daltgeezy1212) each took two of our characters through the Nightfall Strike. This is where all the trash talking (except Daltgeezy1212, he is a 24/7 trash talker) really began.
There are a few things we have labeled here at GameFragger. If you are prone to dying, you are Dalton-ing it. If you leave your mic on mute, you are Taylor-ing it. If you just don't know what the hell you are doing, you are Don-ing it. I'm fine with my name being associated with leaving my mic on mute. Yes, I'm stupid enough to talk into my mic for five minutes before someone says, "Taylor your mic on mute..." DOH! I don't think Don even knows we have named something after him, but it is all good. Dalton, however, has some real beef being related to dying. . . all the time. He thinks the problem is with the rest of us. Good thing the Destiny app has a stats section. Here is the stats from both the nightfall strikes (combined together).
TheHolyFragger: 285 kills, 142 assists and a 20.0085 Kill to Death Ratio
TH3KILLA77: 278 kills, 183 assists and a 11.155 Kill to Death Ratio.
Daltgeezy1212 215 kills, 146 assists and a 5.405 Kill to Death Ratio.
Nuff said son! Dalton-ing it will forever be associated with dying. Here is the kicker to the whole story. Once we crushed Omnigul's face in, there were two exotic drops. Daltgeezy got both of them. We stay alive and Dalt gets the reward. What kind of universe do we live in!
