GameFragger insiders are kind of addicted to this game. We are excited for the bright future of Destiny. This week we decided to write about some of our own adventures, as well as address the weekly Bungie update from their blog.
This week Bungie addressed a bug noticed by many, but can go unnoticed if you aren't paying attention. Here is an excerpt from the Bungie Blog:
You love Heavy Weapons. The purple glow of ammunition is a promise of future enemy annihilation by way of your favorite Rocket Launcher or (even better) belt-fed Machine Gun. You buy it in bulk when you visit the Gunsmith. To get the most bang from your space bucks, you equip armor that lets you carry more of the stuff. Unfortunately it turns out that those deep pockets have metaphorical holes in them.
Thus, you tend to lose your coveted ammunition when one of the following happens in a PVE activity:
- You die
- You return to orbit
- You encounter a cutscene
If you’ve spent any time reading about Destiny on a forum where Guardians congregate, you know this is far from hypothetical. It happens to us all. It makes Raids harder to clear. It deprives you of precious Glimmer, and patience. Frankly, it sucks.
We noticed this most recently on our raid in the Vault of Glass. It really makes the game a bit frustrating at times. Especially when there are people in the group who are doing it for the first time. Bungie plans to implement a fix for the bug in February. Yes, it's just one bug, but it can be a frustrating one.
This weeks GameFragger adventure took place in the vault of glass. Three GameFragger insiders with the gamertags TH3KILLA77, TheHolyFragger and Jbest75 (Xbox One) decided to go through the raid with some of our friends who haven't done it before. Everything went smoothly until we hit the gorgons (the easiest part of the raid) and then everything went down hill.
The Gorgons:
We noted in the beginning that this part was easy to do. Easier said than done, due to fellow players falling off rocks, trying to run it not knowing where to go and a few blatant attempts to destroy the gorgons without being seen. After resetting and a few rounds of singing follow the leader, we decided that everyone could only whisper into their mics or face the wrath of the mighty gorgons. Realizing how ridiculous we sounded 5 members left the group while one person did the whole thing in less than thirty seconds. We finally beat the gorgons.
The Vault of Glass:
I've never in my life wanted to throw a controller at a TV screen. We managed to get to the "summoning of Atheon" pretty quickly (the only good part) then the real fun began. Shields and cleansing, Supplicants and explosions, Jumping to the middle platform, Oracles and going through portals became too much.
Three people knew how to use the shield, which is good, but what happens when three people who don't know how to use it get teleported in? Wipe. What happens when you don't place yourself in a good position to shoot the supplicants? Explosions and then a wipe. What happens if half the team (the part I still can't get down) misses the middle platform and die? Wipe. You can figure out what happened with the oracles and portals.
Finally after a few days, we were able to destroy Atheon and achieve immortal glory. What did TH3KILLA77 get for all of his patience? A legendary Machine Gun... I have over ten. I could use anything else besides a new shader and a legendary machine gun. Good riddance Vault of Glass and to those select few who we pulled in AND were patient with the group we had, thanks.
